I’ve been awake since half past four and up since five. I’ve put some laundry in the wash, swept the laundry room floor, watered some plants, and started some new broccoli sprouts.
It’s too early for me to be awake and I’m wondering if after all that I can make it back to sleep for a bit. Today I have a fairly full day of fun planned with the kids so I’m going to need all the energy I’ve got to make the most of it.
Fifteen hours later and I was not only able to fall back asleep for two more hours this morning but also snuck in a one hour nap this afternoon. According to Fitbit that brings my grand total up to about 8.5 hours. Not to shabby.
Indeed I did otherwise have a full day with the kids and so by the time 8PM came around, we were all ready to go our separate ways.
As such, Z went to continue DIYing stuff for Christmas gifts and C was grounded all week and did ok with that so I caved and ended his sentence a day early. This convieniently leaves me free and clear to do whatever I want till it’s time to go to bed.
I was low on physical activity/steps today so I decided the gym was the best way to finish out the day. I’ve been trying to take things a little easier this week as my knees have not been feeling so great. It sucks to get old.
We went to see Star Wars today and it was pretty good. If I were a movie critic, I’d give it 7.5 out of 10. It was above average but not balls-out amazing. There were some good moments, but I don’t think I liked it as much as either Episode 7 or Rogue One. But I’m not a movie critic, so I’ll spare everyone my detailed analysis.
We also visited a place called Oracle Art Supplies which is the location of Ollivanders Wand Shop for the purposes of the “Holiday at Hogwarts” experience the kids and I are going to tomorrow. We had to go today to pick out our wands. I’m not quite sure what to expect from the “show”, but we’re pretty into anything Harry Potter so it’s going to be fun!
The gal in the wand shop came in and greeted us in character and helped us verify what the core of the wands we selected were. When she came in, I was still undecided and she helped me figure out which wand was right for me. We tested both and executing the “lumos” spell with one turned the Christmas tree lights on and doing the same with the other did not. So that was it, the wand was chosen (or it chose me).
My time here is winding down so I’m going to wrap up. I would love to get another 8 hours to finish out my week. I’m good on steps now I think, so that’s one more check in the box.
