2019-06-03 Monday Rainy Monday

It’s so dark outside and would be the perfect day to sleep in. Well, it would be if I had not fallen asleep at 8:30 last night. I woke up at 11pm when Jim cane to bed and promptly fell right back asleep again. Then I slept through until the alarm went off at 6AM. That’s a lot of sleep yo.

My Fitbit is reporting 8.5 hours as it does not count the time spent awake during the night. Still 8.5 is awesome. Yardda-yadda-woof-woof. That’s enough about that.

Today is the start of a new week and a new month and I’ve got big plans brewing in my brain. Today is the perfect dark, rainy day for scheming. I’m checking the calendar and cross checking other communications for events in June. Since I dont have work and school has not started yet, I have the whole month to really get a ton done.

The first scheduled event is this Friday evening which is my sister’s going away party. My “little little” sister is moving to Denver. She’s a manager at Trader Joe’s and has wanted to move for quite some time. Colorado is one of her dream locations and she had a transfer approved a few months back. I’m very happy for her. I’m also sad to see her leave. She’s one of my Omaha besties. Now I’ll be adding her to the list of besties I have that live elsewhere. More reasons to travel, right??!!

My brother also lives in Colorado, in Broomfield with his wife and two kids. We’re not as close despite the fact that we are only two years apart I’m age and grew up together in the same house. We really have never been that close, not like my sister who I did not grow up with. Life is strange like that.

There are 16 years between my sister and I. She was born when I was already in high school and when I got married and moved away at 19, she was the flower girl in my wedding. She was 4 then. I would not get to know her until 16+ years later when she was in college.

We both hit a rough patch at the same time. I left my husband and she, because of her own circumstance, had no money and needed to move. Our mom’s house was not an option so she came to live with me and my two kids in the house I built when I was in the process of getting my divorce. In the 9 months to follow we got to know each other really well and became good friends. There may be a lot of years between us but she was there for me and I for her and it was as if there weren’t any.

Anyway, she’s come a long way and finally getting to Colorado and the mountains she has dreamed of living near. She’s a strong, independent woman who knows what she wants and goes after it.

Denver’s only a 7 hour drive or 1 hour flight away .. I guess I’ll just have to visit often. 😊

That little going away party/get-together is this week and other than that, I don’t have any solid plans so it will be perfect for doing stuff around the house. It looks like we’re going to get a lot of rain so I’ll have to stick to indoor stuff. No excuses for not finally getting the closet in my office sorted.

When I moved that became the dumping ground for everything small I didn’t know what to do with. I clearly have been hoarding paper and notebooks and office supplies for a while now. Not to mention boxes of pictures and old electronics and other various trinkets and souvenirs. I should start now, but I won’t.

First chores, then reading, and THEN I’ll get right on that little closet organization project. Right. 😜

That’s enough rainy day meandering about for now.

Cheers,

~Miss SugarCookie
