Fitbit says I slept for 3 hours and 25 minutes last night. I don’t care. I’m feeling a little guilty for the long evening but I really lost track of time and didn’t know it had gotten so late. I want to wait an appropriate amount of time until I apologize. I also am really wishing I had the same skills I did years ago in the napping department. If that was the case, I would be up now and getting something done and making sure I was ready to be back in bed with the curtains drawn by 10am.
Today is the last day of August and normally I would be sad to see one of my favorite months go, but not this time. I’m a long way from all the magic of the beginning of my relationship with Matt in August of 2011 and still way to close to the end in August of 2016. So close, that the sting of everything I felt last fall is still lingering enough to cause me a fair amount of pain. At one point I really believed in “August and Everything After”, but now it’s just “August and About Five Years, Give or Take a Couple of Months”. Not as catchy of a title.
This month really should have been one of the best on record seeing that I am not working and was sort of a free spirit to do whatever I please the entire month. Somehow I look back on it and don’t find anything particularly noteworthy other than the Eclipse and my gaining a deeper understanding of myself and my health. Those things are important though, so I should not dismiss them so easily.
Today I’m planning on getting a few routine things done outside, like mowing my lawn and maybe some harvest and some weeding. Nothing too strenuous as I am either still sore from the edging work or have new soreness from my adventure yesterday at Swanson. The scrape on my hip is much worse than my arm, but it’s in a position that doesn’t seem to bother me much. My elbow, on the other hand, is quite tender and noticeable even with very slight movements. Hopefully it does not hinder my yard work today too much.
I also want to get sand for the pavers but have sort of decided to wait another day before putting that in. I’m going to do the sand and finishing all in one step as I don’t think it is a good idea to lay the sand and let that sit for any time allowing other dirt to also pile in. I want it as perfect as I can get it. Home Depot has the sand so getting that today will hopefully be a quick trip, that is if I don’t get distracted by plants needing to be rescued.
Anyway, I’m going to say goodbye to August now and really try to embrace September and all the potential of a fresh new month and lots of undiscovered territory… If all goes according to plan, I will be well on my way to figuring out what is next in my life. The question is, will things go according to plan?
