2024-06-02 The Results are In!…

And what a cliffhanger it has been!… Waiting for such an epic and important verdict.

No… I’m not referring to our former president and the results of his first criminal trial. That was pretty amusing, though, and wrought with tension and suspense too.

Nope. I’m actually talking about the results of my pregnancy test. You know, the one that would prove that I’m pregnant with the first human-extraterrestrial hybrid baby or the next baby Jesus. The test that was going to make me an instant influencer in the diaper and baby formula industries and a front runner for Time’s 2025 Person of the Year. Don’t even get me started on the number of nanny inquiries I’d have to field in the next 7 months. Yikes!

So without further ado…

the result is….

JK. I haven’t tested yet. 😂

My Stardust app says I’m 76 days late. Not me. I’m not late. My period is though. Seriously late. That makes me about 13 weeks pregnant. Wowza! I’m now tiptoeing into my second trimester. I guess that explains the weight gain. Averaging about 1 pound a week. And I know this not just because I’m obsessed with the numbers on the scale, but because i weigh my cats every week cuz one of them is on a diet.

If you have cats (I suppose the same would be true for dogs) but it’s tough to have one of them on a diet without having all three of them on a diet. The first step was revoking the bottomless community cat food bowl.

The cat’s I’ve loved and cared for have all been grazers. The “nibble and walk away” kind of cat. But the doesn’t work for our newest cat, GusGus. Originally Gustav when we got him in 2020 with Gus being for short, but now we call him GusGus. He’s adorable and loves to eat. And eat and eat and eat. If he’s with a person in a room that has food, he’ll always go for it.

We got him at 14 weeks, on my birthday so we’ve had him since he was a wee lad. When he reached 20 pounds we started talking about a diet. Then got serious when he was 21 pounds. That was earlier this year.

On the new diet, he’s lost 3 pounds and is holding steady now at about 18 pounds. We’d like to get him down to 16, but that’s a stretch goal. We just don’t want our precious Gussy (or Gusser or Gustafer or fat pancake) to get diabetes or not be active cuz the weight is holding him back. We want him to be happy, active, and healthy. 3 pounds in a few short months is good for a cat.

I’ve not had that same success lately. In fact (as I mentioned), I’ve gained about a pound a week lately. The way I weigh the cats is that I step on the scale with them and then by myself, collecting both values, and subtracting one from the other. So each Sunday when I look at that paper, I can’t help but notice the trend. 📈

The pounds make sense with my current speculative theory. Being pregnant would also explain my craving for Burger King – bacon, egg, and cheese Croissan’wiches lately. Twice in the last couple of weeks, I’ve “demanded” that we drive to the closest one right before the breakfast window closes and they start flipping whoppers. Today was one of those days.

Anyway… stepping into my second trimester feels like a big deal. No wonder we wanted to celebrate with a special meal! 👽👶🏼🥐🥓🥚🧀

Despite this weight gain (or maybe to directly spite it right in the eyeball), I’ve been feeling pretty good. Jovial even. Maybe I’m getting more sleep and maybe it’s the comfort I get knowing my kids are both safe and doing good. We are all under the same roof right now and that brings me peace. Perhaps it is because it’s spring and the temps are going up and Summer is just a minute away. I love Summer. The yard looks great now and so many things are in bloom I’m just a bouncy ball with my camera out there.

I don’t think I have more of an update than that.

I mean…. You could ask me thoughts about the Trump verdict. But I’d really rather you not. 😂

So I guess that’s it. Thanks for reading.

Cheers,
